New York, New York: My Favorite Bars and Favorite Things To Do

Welcome to part 2 of my New York, New York series! For part 1 about all my favorite restaurants, visit my first New York, New York blog post! There are hundreds of places to grab a drink in NYC, and even more things to do all over the city! Continue reading to see what my favorites are and what I recommend!

Food Tours of NY

My all time FAVORITE thing to do in New York is to take a food tour. My favorite company is Food Tours of NY and they do an amazing job.. They offer a variety of tours with several different options for tour guides. My favorite tour guide is Curt (pictured right). Learn more about food tours at the end of the first NYC blog.

If you have never seen a broadway show you are MISSING OUT. Even if you are not a huge fan of musicals or plays, everyone has to see a broadway show at least once. My favorite shows so far have been Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard and Lion King.

Biking in Central Park

Staying active in the city can be easy, especially when you bike ride through Central Park. Central Park is something everyone needs to see when visiting New York, so why not bike through it? There are several ways to rent bikes very close to the park, and biking the whole thing doesn’t take longer than 30 minutes to an hour. I highly recommend doing this!

*if you are visiting NYC in the summer, it is better to go earlier in the morning or at least before noon*

I can never leave the city without going to tea! Although this seems like a silly thing to do, it is something I have loved doing since I was a little girl. Send the boys off somewhere else while the girls enjoy cocktails, tea and finger foods! My two favorite spots are the Mandarin and the Plaza.

The Plaza Hotel

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)
11 West 53rd Street

I am not a big museum goer, but this is a museum I am always so happy to visit. I love all types of art, but I am particularly interested in modern art. You can sweep through the entire museum in less than an hour, or you can stick around longer and follow the exhibits with an audio tape. However you decide to do it, this is a great museum to visit.

Workout Classes

If you like to stay active like me, NYC has an awesome variety of workout classes for you to try while you’re in the city. Often times you will have to pay for a drop-in class, but I have really enjoyed getting to try new workout classes while in New York. The two favorites I have tried so far are Soul Cycle and Tracy Anderson.

soul cycle: not for the faint of heart

Rose Bar at Gramercy Park Hotel
2 Lexington Ave
New York, NY 10010

this is one of the prettiest hotels in all of New York. I was completely blown away by the decor of the lobby, and was even more blown away by the atmosphere of the Rose Bar at the hotel.

PHD Terrace at Dream Midtown
210 W 55TH ST,
NEW YORK 10019

this terrance might be one of the best views in New York City. This bar is very swanky and has a very fun, NYC atmosphere. I could sit on this terrance for hours overlooking Midtown New York.
